Our Trip To Atlanta & Orlando

What a whirlwind the past month has been!!! We are just now getting around to recapping our week in Atlanta and Orlando! It was amazing getting to meet so many of you at my talk in Atlanta, and I loved how everyone came to learn! I will definitely be trying to do more speaking engagements, so stay tuned for those! PLUS, like always, you all gave us some great recommendations on food and things to do! We love going to all the restaurants and shops that have been recommended because everyone has such great taste. We definitely enjoyed the warmer weather too, nothing beats a sunny day at the beach or eating dinner outside! On this trip we didn’t try to visit as many murals or crazy colorful places, but instead opted to eat the best food and find the best shops, so hopefully you don’t mind all the camper photos. (Kyle may have gone a little overboard! Ha!) Without any further ado, let’s just jump right in!

Renovated Camper

When we were looking at places to stay in Atlanta, I came across this super retro restored camper. As soon as I saw it I knew we had to stay there to fulfill Kyle’s dreams of living in a camper in the 70s! Not only is the interior decorated perfectly to give you vintage vibes, but the owner also has his own antique shop and the best Atlanta recommendations.

Superica

The first thing we do when we look at places to visit is find out if they have a good taco place. We absolutely love eating tacos, and Superica was soooo delicious! It’s located in the Krog Street Market, which has other great food options as well as shops!

Home Grown

A ton of you recommended Home Grown to us, and the owner of the camper also recommended it too, so of course we had to go! We ordered the Comfy Chicken which was probably Kyle’s favorite meal of the entire trip!

Victory Sandwich Bar

After my speaking event, we went to Victory Sandwich bar, which has a ton of fun and delicious sandwich options!

Muchacho

Muchacho is a super cool casual eatery that looks like it is straight out of the 70s. They have delicious tacos, (and yes, we ate tacos back to back) but we love them that much.

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market is giant food hall with retail shops located right next to the Atlanta Beltline! It’s full of handmade goods made by locals, so it’s a great place to get non-cheesy Atlanta souvenirs.

Paris on Ponce

Just down the Beltline from Ponce City Market is Paris on Ponce, which has 30 different shops with things from plants, to vintage clothing to locally made goods. This is where we found that pink Cadillac that I shared on Instagram!

Atlanta Beltline

When didn’t spend too long on it, but the Atlanta Beltline is a repurposed railway that has been converted into a multi-use trail for people to bike and walk on. It is 10 miles long and passes by some of the shops and restaurants in Atlanta, plus there is a Tiny Door on it!

Little Five Points

Little Five Points is a restaurant and shop district with cool vintage stores, like The Clothing Warehouse, where I got two vintage dresses! They also have a huge wall of vintage tees!

Switchyards

Switchyards was the event space and office building for creatives where I had my speaking engagement! Not only does it have cool, customizable workspaces, but once you’re a member there, you get a coffee cup with your name on it added to their wall.

4 Rivers BBQ

4 Rivers is a BBQ restaurant that Kyle LOVES, so we had to stop there for at least one meal. The portions are huge, and they have a dessert shop with quirky and fun desserts, like Mountain Dew Dorito cupcakes.

Sala’s Hawaiian Slurp Shack

Last time we visited Kyle’s family, his sister took us to this Hawaiian shaved ice shop. It was so tasty that we had to go back on this trip. The shaved ice is huge, and you can put as many flavors as you want in it, like cotton candy, mango, or peach.

Reyes Mezcaleria

Reyes Mezcaleria is a mexcian restaurant and bar in downtown Orlando that specializes in drinks made with Mezcal. The tacos were good and Kyle said the drinks were too! Ha!

Park Avenue Winter Park

Park Avenue is a cute shopping district in Winter Park with lots of fun little shops and cafes. We shot the yellow and mint building photos below at a cute Vespa shop in this area!

Luke’s Kitchen and Bar

Luke’s is a Modern American restaurant that had tasty food, where we met some of Kyle’s friends for dinner!

Lake Eola Swan Boats

This is where all of your swan boat dreams will come true. Not only are there swans just walking around the park, but you can also rent a Swan paddle boat to take out onto the lake, and enjoy the weather.

The Pop Parlour

After our dinner at Reyes, we visited The Pop Parlour, a popsicle shop that specializes in gourmet and boozy icepops!

New Smyrna Beach

You can’t visit Florida without going to a beach right?! Kyle took me to New Smyrna Beach, which is just above Canaveral National Seashore. Fun Fact: you can drive on New Smyrna Beach!

Trader Mae’s

Trader Mae’s is an antique and furniture market right down the road from where Kyle grew up. It had lots of fun vendors, and the selection of cool items was crazy! I may have gone a little vintage crazy in here, because there were so many great items. Next time I’m bringing an empty suitcase just for vintage finds!

The Pinball Lounge

The Pinball Lounge is a pinball arcade hidden away inside a bowling alley! It had a ton of great machines, and one I had never even played before! I wouldn’t say this was was the best thing we did the whole trip, but it definitely was! 😉

Phew! Hopefully that wasn’t too long of a recap! It’s crazy how many things there are to do in Orlando and Atlanta, some of the places we went to in Orlando, Kyle had never been to and he lived there for 20+ years! And though we didn’t get to visit Savannah, it just gives us an excellent reason to head back down to Georgia for more good food and fun, so make sure to leave any more recommendations for us in the comments below!
