DIY Heart Donut Pegboard

For the past month, I’ve been looking at pegboards for the studio, and I knew I wanted a fun shaped pegboard, so this project kind of came about on accident while making plans for our craft area! Donut walls have been HUGE the past year, and I’ve had the photo of this rainbow color wheel donut pegboard by Oh Happy Day saved on Pinterest for a while as one of my favorite donut walls. I was super inspired by the idea of just cutting a square pegboard (instead of making my own from scratch), and I thought it would be fun to not only make a heart-shaped pegboard, but to show you how to use it as a donut wall for your parties too!

Pegboard (we bought ours here)
Pink paint – the color we used was “little princess” by Behr
Paint brush or roller
Medium grit sandpaper
1/4″ dowels

1. Start out by cutting your pegboard down to a 4′ x 4′ square. Using a sharpie, draw a heart onto the board as large as you can.

2. Carefully cut out the heart with a jigsaw and sand the edges of the heart lightly. Dust off any sawdust and paint the heart pink with a paintbrush or paint roller. Set aside and allow to dry completely.

3. With your dowels, measure out 3 1/2″ pegs. I used 33 pegs total for my board, but the number will depend on the spacing of your donuts.

4. Cut the pegs and space them out onto your finished heart pegboard.

5. Scatter donuts on the pegs and prop up or screw the donut pegboard to the wall for your Valentine’s Day party!

This is the perfect way to fill up space on your dessert table AND you can just clean it off and re-purpose it for your home or office once the party is over! I think we need to make it a weekly thing now to have donuts on our pegboard every Monday as Monday motivation, what about you? And if you want to take a step further and make heart-shaped donuts for your donut wall, we have a how-to over here!

  1. Seriously love this so much! I told you on IG about the American Flag donut wall I made, just google that and you’ll find it, it’s the only one out there! This heart is A-Mazing.

  2. I love this so much! I’ve always known I wanted a wall of donuts at my wedding – not that I’m getting married anytime soon! – and having them on a heart-shaped pegboard would make it that much sweeter! I wish I could have something like this up in my house at all times.
