How To Add More Color To Your Winter Wardrobe

You asked and we delivered!!! SO many of you guys have been asking for more fashion-related posts and for us to share how you can incorporate color into your wardrobe, specifically WINTER wardrobe! Color has always been a huge part of my life and it’s something that has allowed me to express myself and my personality. I’m initially a very shy person, but putting together bold looks helps me feel confident in times where I feel my most reserved. It makes me so excited that all of you want to try wearing a little bit of color even in the gloomiest of weather, and I hope that this post helps point you in the right direction! 🙂 We styled five totally different, colorful looks for cold weather season and we’re sharing some tips and inspiration for bringing some color to your closet. We went color head-to-toe with these looks, but if you’re hesitant to go full rainbow right away, start small!

I also searched the internet for some of my favorite places to buy colorful clothing, so make sure to check those out at the end of each tip! They’re a good place to start your quest for color!!! P.S. I’m a super thrifty shopper, so all of these items are below $100 except a few of the coats. Gotta save money so we can have extra cash for desserts, right? Ha! Hope you like this post as much as I liked putting it together!

Outfit Sources: Beret // Sweater // Scarf (Old Banana Republic) // Jacket // Skirt (Similar) // Knee Socks // Shoes (Old Asos) // Gloves (Old Banana Republic)

This is one of the scarier ones for me. Living in NYC, most people have black or gray jackets, so when I ride the subway, I stick out like a sore thumb. BUT you wouldn’t believe how many people have told me that I brightened their day just with a pop of color on my jacket! Just being able to brighten someone’s day is totally worth the few weird looks. I just bought this coat a few weeks ago and it’s quickly become my favorite yet. But if you’re not about to jump right into wearing an all lilac look, a statement coat also looks great with just jeans and a t-shirt!

Favorite Statement Coats:

Outfit Details: Sweater // Necklace // Jacket // Pants (From H&M) // Boots

I LOVE wearing a patterned pant in Winter, especially one with a floral print. I’m not a big fan of cold weather, and it’s always so much harder for me to want to leave the apartment, so wearing anything with a Summer-y pattern helps lift my spirits and at least pretend it’s warmer out than it actually is. Ha!

Favorite Patterned Pants:

Outfit Details: Earrings // Sunglasses (Vintage) // Sweater // Jacket // Pants (Similar) // Heels (Old Asos)

I started wearing more and more color in high school and one of the first things I did was buy colorful earrings, sunglasses, glasses, and necklaces. Starting small with just a small accessory is a great way to slowly ease into a bigger colorful piece. Pom pom and tassel earrings have made a huge comeback in the past year. They’re super easy to make on your own and in a lot of different colors too! I try to match my earrings to at least one other color I’m wearing. So in this outfit for example, I’m matching the red and orange in my sweater!

Favorite Colorful Accessories:

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

Outfit Details: Beret // Faux Fur Scarf (Old Jcrew) // Sweater // Jacket //  Skirt // Tights // Boots

Tights, tights, tights!!! We all have to wear them when it’s cold out if we want to wear any kind of skirts or dresses, right?! So why not make them bright and colorful? Crazy colored tights have always proven to be the hardest thing for me to find come Winter, but I discovered this website last year and I hope it helps some of you too. I double up on tights when it’s super cold, or you can layer them with ankle socks when you’re wearing boots!

Favorite Colorful Tights:

Outfit Details: Glasses // Earmuffs (Old Urban Outfitters) // Sweater (Similar) // Jacket // Scarf // Jeans // Boots

Some of you may already know that I collect colorful boots. I think I have every color now except green! They’re sometimes hard to pull off if you live in an area with snow, but just make sure you weather-proof all of them and you should be good to go. Nobody wants those gross salt stains on their boots. Ha! If I’m wearing a super bright or crazy boot, I’ll try to pair it with solid jeans to make it stand out more.
