Donut Diaries – New York’s Dough & Doughnut Plant

While thinking about what I wanted my first official blog post to be, I knew it was going to be something involving donuts (duh)! I thought it would be fun to start a series called Donut Diaries, where I will go two different donut shops once a month and get all of the donuts I could possibly ever eat. And then tell all of you what flavors they are and pick my favorites! I’m always getting asked where to go for donuts in New York, so now I can show you all of the options! Maybe I’ll even do some traveling to places outside of New York to show you shops worthy of road trips stops.

Anyways, let’s get down to it! Drumroll, please! In the very first edition of Donut Diaries I went to Dough and Doughnut Plant in Manhattan. I had first gone to Dough at their Brooklyn location, and I was ecstatic to find out they had opened a location on 19th street in Manhattan (which is only 6 blocks from my school)! It was my first time at Doughnut Plant though, so I couldn’t help but get WAY too many donuts. Both shops have some pretty crazy flavors, and here’s what I got.

This one was my FAVORITE! I need to go back and get 20 more. First of all, I love the idea of a square donut. I’m all about making donuts into funny shapes, so the square donut is the something I can get on board with. Second, this is a peanut butter donut with banana cream filling! Yes, it’s filled with banana cream and could not get any more delicious. This one wins the prize in my book. A++

Second favorite is the chocolate with cacao nibs! ^^^

And the hibiscus totally wins the award for prettiest color on a donut ever. Look at that pink! I want that color all over everything in my apartment. On an unrelated note, eating this one makes me feel like a sloth since hibiscus flowers are like sloth chocolate! There’s your daily dose of cute.

To conclude:

My favorite donut = peanut butter with banana cream filling from Doughnut Plant
Second favorite = chocolate with cacao nibs from Dough
Prettiest/Miss Congeniality = hibiscus from Dough

Make sure to follow along on Instagram too, I’ll be using the hashtag #donutdiaries!
