Easy Valentine’s Day dessert alert! A few years back I made these candy arrow sticks for Valentine’s Day, and they were a huge hit, so I thought we’d take that same concept and make arrow heart-shaped DONUTS! I’ve been dubbed the “donut girl” on Instagram, and seeing as though I haven’t done a donut post in a while, it seemed appropriate to bust out my heart donut pan (yes, those exist!!!) and make some delicious donuts. These would be perfect to put in a little gift box with a note, or you could attach a tag to the arrow stick like I did for the candy versions. And donut worry, we’ve got lots more Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day projects coming soon if you’re more into giving non-edible gifts!
Heart donut pan (here)
2 cups flour
3/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs
3/4 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Piping bag
Pink and red melting chocolates
Candy sticks
Pink and red construction paper
Scissors
Hot glue gun
1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease your heart-shaped donut pan and set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, mix vanilla, eggs, milk, and butter. Slowly pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
3. Put the batter into a piping bag and pipe 1/2 of the way full into your heart-shaped donut pan. Bake for 7-8 minutes. Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack until completely cooled.
4. In a microwave safe bowl, melt your chocolates until they are smooth. Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate and decorate with sprinkles if desired before the chocolate hardens.
5. To make the arrow, cut small strips out of construction paper. Wrap and hot glue the construction paper around the end of a candy stick and cut the bottom to make it look like fringe.
6. Stick the arrow through the donut at an angle. Once the arrow is through the donut, cut a small triangle out of construction paper and hot glue it to the other end of the candy stick. Place the donuts in a box and gift them to your friend for Valentine’s Day!
Raise your hand if you’re trying these out!!! I celebrate Galentine’s Day, and I can’t wait to give these out to all my ladies this year! And now that you have a source for where to buy a heart-shaped donut pan, here’s another fun heart idea! Happy baking!!
