Raise your hand if you’ve been to the pink door in Palm Springs!!! I feel like it’s become such an icon now (especially on Instagram), and every time we visit, it makes me think of a giant pink chocolate bar. SO we’re making super easy edible chocolate bar versions of the door complete with fondant plants and the tiniest edible door handle! Can we talk about a cuteness OVERLOAD?!?! Be right back, planning a Palm Springs themed party just to have an excuse to bust out these!
Pink candy melt chocolate (here)
Chocolate bar mold (here)
White fondant
Green and gray food coloring
Rolling pin
Small knife
1. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals until completely melted. Carefully pour the chocolate into the chocolate bar mold and gently hit the mold onto the table to remove any air bubbles.
2. Pop the mold into the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until the chocolate has set. While the chocolate is setting, color a small amount of fondant green and another piece of fondant gray.
3. Carefully turn the mold over to release the chocolate. Roll out the green fondant and cut out small leaves in various sizes. Put the leaves together while the fondant is still pliable to create two plants to go on either side of your chocolate bar. Set the plants aside and allow the fondant to harden.
4. Roll out your gray fondant like a small snake and shape into a miniature door handle. Set aside to harden.
5. Once your fondant has hardened, place two small dabs of melted pink chocolate on the bottom of the door and stick your fondant plants to the chocolate. Attach the handles with a small amount of melted chocolate and allow everything to dry before transporting your chocolate doors!
You could totally do these in a bunch of different colors! Or you could scrap the Palm Springs vibes completely and make a chocolate bar that matches your very own front door! 😉 And if you’ve never been to Palm Springs, we have a guide over here if you’re planning a trip!!!
